Archives relating to the 1908 Games are spread between several British repositories. Material created by the British Olympic Association is held at the University of East London, but there are also relevant archives at the local studies library for the London borough where the White City Stadium was situated, and at the main regional archive for the Greater London area.

The UK National Archives holds only a very few documents relating to the 1908 Games, including three photographs of the White City Stadium and the Games in progress from the records of the Copyright Office (reference: COPY1/520/235, COPY1/526/206 and COPY1/526/12), and arrangements for the marathon race from the records of the Metropolitan Police (reference: MEPO2/1156). See their Olympic web pages at The Olympic Record
A set of seven photographs of the 1908 marathon race in progress, taken by a spectator, are held by the London Borough of Hillingdon Local History, Archives and Museum Service. The marathon route passed through the borough on its way to the White city stadium (reference: ICSO). See the Image Gallery for examples of these photographs.
